Slovenia is a country of great geographical diversity offering you, among other things, an opportunity for skiing down the slopes of the Alps. Most of the country’s ski resorts are located quite close to Ljubljana and Urban Hotel. The most popular of them are described below.
Kranjska gora recreational centre (distance from Urban hotel 87 km): it’s one of Slovenia’s largest and most visited ski resorts. Most of its ski slopes are relatively gentle and just perfect for easy skiing. Visitors to the resort can choose from ski runs accessible from the village of Kranjska Gora as well as those in the nearby village of Podkoren and the Planica valley.
Vogel ski centre (distance from Urban hotel 92 km): it’s a popular ski resort situated in the scenic surroundings of the Triglav National Park. The aerial cable car running from Bohinj to Mount Vogel affords scenic views of Lake Bohinj. The ski slopes at Mount Vogel are not very demanding and are therefore suitable for the whole family. A diverse choice of culinary offerings and activities are available.
Cerkno ski centre (distance from Urban hotel 56 km): it’s a ski resort equipped to modern standards and offering a diverse choice of ski pistes suitable for skiers of all ages and skill levels. It includes a well-groomed snow park and a number of cross-country ski trails. Special attention is dedicated to families. The resort has been named several years running as a ‘Family-Friendly Ski Resort’.
Mariborsko Pohorje ski resort (distance from Urban hotel 128 km): comprises an area along the main crest of the Pohorje Massif and the area of Areh, is the largest of several ski resorts in the Pohorje Mountains and the one located nearest to the city of Maribor, practically on the city’s outskirts. One only needs to hop on a city bus to reach the lower platform of its aerial cable car.
Rogla ski resort (distance from Urban hotel 127 km): situated in the Pohorje Mountains, is one of Slovenia’s most important winter sports centres. It is regularly used for training by various national sports teams.
Golte ski resort (distance from Urban hotel 86 km): located on a high plateau of the same name overlooking the Savinja Valley, is one of Slovenia’s most modern ski resorts. Over recent years, it has received a number of recognitions for its excellently groomed ski slopes.
Straža Bled ski resort (distance from Urban hotel 56 km): is small, but it is new and equipped to the latest standards. One of its advantages is that it is situated only a few minutes’ walk from the lake resort town of Bled and that skiers can enjoy stunning views of Lake Bled and Bled Castle. The resort has a snowing system and is floodlit to allow night skiing.
Krvavec recreational centre (distance from Urban hotel 29 km): In winter, Krvavec offers 20 ski runs, a ski school, a ski equipment hire service, a restaurant, a snow park, a beginners’ practice field, a children’s carpet lift and ski carousel, a racing field, a ski piste equipped with an electronic time measuring device, an ungroomed ski piste, night tobogganing, snowbiking, and free parking.
