Skyscraper (at the doorstep of Urban hotel): the roof terrace of the café on the top floor of Nebotičnik (Slovenian for ‘Skyscraper’), a venerable example of architecture between the two World Wars, affords some of the most beautiful views of Ljubljana opening out in all directions. A classic Slovenian pop song titled Na vrhu Nebotičnika (On Top of the Skyscraper) describes a visit to the café at the top of the building as a romantic experience par excellence.
Trnovo church (walking distance from Urban hotel 6 minutes): the original church of the Trnovo district was built by architect Candido Zulliani in 1753. The only surviving items from that church are a few paintings, including those of St. John the Baptist and St. Anthony by Valentin Metzinger.
Ljubljana castle (walking distance from Urban hotel 21 minutes): Ljubljana Castle, standing on a hill above the city for about 900 years, is Ljubljana’s main attraction. The castle’s Outlook Tower and ramparts offer some of the most beautiful views of the city, while the castle houses a museum exhibition on Slovenian history, a puppet museum, and a number of historical rooms such as the Chapel of St George, the Prison, and a video presentation room called Virtual Castle.
Julija (walking distance from Urban hotel 11 minutes): the restaurant Julija, located in a historical building in the midst of the medieval city centre of Ljubljana, combines quality modern cuisine with a pleasant, peaceful ambience.
