Ljubljana and the Central Slovenia are not known only for their natural particularities but also for their botanic gardens and parks.
Volčji potok Arboretum (distance from Urban hotel 25 km): is the most visited botanical park in Slovenia. It covers an 85-hectare site and features 3,500 plants from all over the world. Streams and lakes, offering habitats to water plants and animals, bring a special dynamic to the park. The Arboretum also features specially marked paths leading through beneficial energy points. In the old part of the park you can take a break in the summer café and there is also a large playground for children.
Tivoli park Glasshouse (walking distance from Urban hotel 13 minutes): owned and managed by the Ljubljana Botanic Garden since the Garden’s 200th anniversary in 2010, displays a permanent exhibition of tropical plants.
Ljubljana Botanic garden (walking distance from Urban hotel 26 minutes): established in 1810, the Ljubljana Botanical Garden is Slovenia’s oldest cultural, scientific and educational institution operating uninterruptedly since its foundation. The Garden contains more than 4,500 different species and subspecies. One third of them are endemic to Slovenia, while the rest originate from other parts of Europe and other continents.
Trnovski “pristan” embankment (walking distance from Urban hotel 19 minutes): with its broad stone steps descending towards the river, is a unique architectural creation designed by the famous architect Jože Plečnik. Being one of Ljubljana’s most beautiful promenades, it has turned into a popular place for socializing over the recent years. Particularly young people, who often hang out there on warm summer days, refer to it as “Ljubljana beach”.
Navje (walking distance from Urban hotel 15 minutes): the Northern City Park, located just behind the Ljubljana Railway Station, consists of several functionally different parts including the beautiful Navje Memorial Park, a strolling area, and a children’s playground, which combine into a pleasant, visitor-friendly retreat.
