Ljubljana hosts a rich programme of events, including a large number of well established festivals.
Ljubljana Festival Križanke (walking distance from Urban hotel 12 minutes): the festival’s rich programme of concert, opera, and ballet events features internationally renowned artists, including some of the world’s most recognised names in music and performing arts. The main venue of the Ljubljana Festival is the picturesque Križanke Summer Theatre, a gem of 13th century architecture rebuilt to its present form by the famous architect Jože Plečnik. Festival events are also held at a number of other prestigious venues in Ljubljana and its surrounding areas. For several years now, the opening of the Ljubljana Festival has been held in Kongresni trg, one of Ljubljana’s central squares.
Open air cinema Congress square (walking distance from Urban hotel 6 minutes): movie Under the Stars is an open-air cinema in the magical setting of Ljubljana Castle’s courtyard. In the most starry cinema in the city you can watch a selection of the most resounding films of the past cinema season, complemented by premieres and avant-premieres.
